My Single Mom Journey: Surviving with Integrity: Chaoticmother's Money Matters

My youngest is just a baby and with neither child was I an advocate of placing them in day care. I love being a mother, and I personally feel the best place for my kids to be is with me. I do understand the need for child care - some families just have no choice as it is either a single parent situation or a two person household stuggling in this economy. But I am blessed to have the opportunity to work from home and be with both of my kiddos and see them grow and flourish. Not that there aren't things we all have to give up in order to make this happen - some days I feel my sanity is the first to go! Things such as cable and trips to the mall aren't in our budget. There are nights I tell the boys that mom needs an hour to upload listings to eBay or Bonanza, which means I may not get to sit with them during that time. In the long run, I feel the pay off is large compared to the sacrifices. (Really, what's on cable anyways other than trash?!) After my yougest was born I did look into the job market, and saw many of the available positions these days would only make enough to cover the baby's day care expenses, or the jobs open were in the truck driving market or factory positions with shifts where I'd never see my kids. So, I knew I had to get creative if I wanted to survive. Hence, my eBay and Bonanza world was born. It's been a long and arduous journey, but I definitely feel if you work at anything with a true passion and zeal, you'll find success, God willing.
